● Packing · full pack or fragiles only
Packed by the people who carry it.
Most breakages happen in the box, not on the stairs: things shift because they were packed loose. Our fix is that the crew who load the truck do the packing, so everything is wrapped the way it needs to ride. Full pack if you want to hand us the keys, fragiles only if you just want the glassware to survive.
01 / how it runs
Three ways to use us.
- 01
Fragiles only
You do the books and the linen, we do the kitchen, the art and the electronics on the morning of the move. The most popular option, and the cheapest way to stop the expensive breakages.
- 02
Full pack
We box the lot, usually the day before the move, so moving day starts with loading. Best for bigger homes, tight settlement timelines, or anyone who'd simply rather not.
- 03
Pack and move
One booking, one crew, one bill at $170 an hour. The estimate calculator prices this as about an hour and a half on top of the move, and the written quote locks it before the truck leaves the depot.

In their words
I am delighted to recommend Northern Removals. They are professional and very supportive going above and beyond expectations. Most importantly Mayan and Hugo are absolutely delightful to deal with, nothing was too much trouble.
Helped me and my wife move with a house with lots of stairs to a new house with lots of stairs. On a hot day and did an amazing job. They even offered to come back for things we didn't originally ask to be moved in the quote.
It was a pleasure to have Northern Removals doing a job for us. I urgently needed a removalist from Myocum to Suffolk Park and Mayan the manager was able to find a time for the job, which was handled with great care and efficiency.
Northern Removals from Byron Bay were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Punctual, efficient, and genuinely friendly, even at the end of a long, dusty day moving everything from Open Table to the tip. Big smiles, great energy, and zero stress.
He did such an amazing job. He was quick, efficient and a great guy to meet. I know it can be stressful, but I really recommend this guy.
02 / honest answers
Packing questions, answered straight.
- What does packing cost?
- The same $170 an hour as the move itself, because it's the same crew. On a typical house move, packing adds about an hour and a half. There's no separate packing fee and no materials surcharge for the wrapping we do on the truck: blankets, straps and wrap are part of the service.
- Can you pack just the fragile stuff?
- Yes, and it's the most popular way to do it. You box the books and clothes, we wrap the glassware, artwork, the TV and anything else you'd rather not trust to a cardboard box in your own hands.
- Do I need to supply boxes?
- If you're packing yourself, yes. If we're packing, tell us what's involved when you book and we'll sort out what's needed before packing day.
- When do you pack, on moving day or before?
- Either. A fragiles-only pack usually happens on the morning of the move. A full pack for a bigger home is better done the day before, so moving day starts with loading, not wrapping.
- What if something you packed breaks?
- Same answer as the move: if we break it, we sort it. The real system is upstream though. Every corner gets a blanket and glass travels on its edge, so it rarely comes up.
