Can I put a mattress on the kerb for council pickup?

Not in the Byron Shire. There is no council kerbside collection here, and a mattress on the nature strip counts as illegal dumping, with fines up to $4,000. Tweed Shire residents get two free on-call collections a year; Byron residents get tip vouchers and a weekday courtesy trailer instead.
